(Dublin, Ireland: 30 May 08) This morning a total of 112 states adopted the Convention on Cluster Munitions. This seems to be the name for our new treaty prohibiting the use, production, transfer, and stockpiling of cluster bombs. I spent much of the morning with Jamila Homayun at a table just outside the main plenary where we helped Mette sell her beautiful Absolute Ban T-Shirts and distributed the CMC’s “Action Plan for Rapid Entry into Force” to delegates. It was a lotta fun. We capped it off with a balloon release and launch of the peoples’ treaty outside in the carpark of all places. And, like every other day, I took a bunch of photographs! - Mary Wareham, Oxfam NZ
