Dublin - Ban Bus
Filed Under Coalition Actions, Dublin Negotiations
(Dublin: 18 May 08) At lunchtime today, campaigners from around the world welcomed the Irish Ban Bus to Dublin. Australian campaigner John Rodsted and Norwegian development expert Mette Eliseuessen have been touring around Ireland and Northern Ireland to raise public awareness on the need to create a strong treaty banning cluster bombs. They did similar outreach in New Zealand before the Wellington Conference and in 1997 the three of us undertook a 6 1/2 week ban bus across the United States arriving in Ottawa for the signing of the Landmine Ban Treaty. Mette and John have created an awesome blog on their tour - www.thebanbus.org - and the photos I took of today’s arrival are available online at: www.flickr.com/photos/anzclusters - Mary Wareham, Oxfam NZ/Coordinator, Aotearoa NZ Cluster Munition Coalition
